Woo-hoo!!

Welcome to Friday!! I'm excited to see all of your presentations today -- they truly do "package" up what you've learned this week and last. You'll learn a lot from each other today as well. We'll have a nice variety of interpretations of the assignment today -- both in content and delivery -- so it should be fun! See you in a bit!

Barb and Readings

Hi All! Please post two things today:

1. What were some of your "Aha's" in the readings we had assigned for today and how will you incorporate some of those ideas into your vision?

AND

2. What is something you learned today from Barb? Because everyone likes positive feedback, please send her a nice email at BarbBumgardner@msn.com

So Many Resources, So Little Time!!

We plunged into many different types of tools and resources for location and access of information today-- search engines and directories, free websites, library websites and pathfinders, databases, -- all with the goal of steering students toward a variety of resources relevant to their search. Please post: How might you make these available to students and provide opportunities to teach awareness and successful use of these tools and resources in your library? (We're beginning some vision thoughts here...) Joyce Valenza created a page, which explains the search tools we discussed today if some of them are fuzzy: http://mciu.org/~spjvweb/searchtip.html

Tomorrow when you arrive at Inglemoor, park either in the front-right area or around the right side of the building in the large lot. You should see my red van if you go around the right side. The library is the big window area on the right side of the building. I'll have signs out! I'll be there by 8am, but class won't officially start until 9am. See the class webpage for a directions link. My cell number is 425-280-3081 if you get lost or have problems.

Just for the "Not Quite Yet Totally Freaked Out"

In looking for Joyce Valenza's powerpoint article (I'll have to sub it, I guess) I found her neverending search blog and a site called classroom 2.0 (I'm sensing a bit of a theme here!). Take a look:

Ning? Hmm... new to me....

WEBINAR - TUESDAY 8AM

I neglected to mention to you all that we have the opportunity to participate in a Washington State Library webinar Tuesday morning at 8am. I realize this is before the class begins so it is optional for you. The webinar starts then so I'll get us up and running and you'll see it when you arrive. Feel free to arrive at 8 if you are able. The title of the Webinar is "Podcasting for Libraries" so it is quite relevant to our class and it should be good. We may only participate for part of it, but we'll see. I've never participated in a webinar before so I'm excited about it. We'll see!! Here's the link if you're interested. See you tomorrow!!

Welcome!

Welcome to all of the new students to the weblog for Information Technology for Teaching and Learning 2007! Guess what? I'm going to ask you to participate in a blog. OMG!! (Oh my gosh!) The objectives here are to fully understand the usefulness and application of a blog in a K-12 setting, as well as provide a discussion forum for the class. Congratulations for signing up successfully! I hope there will be many interesting discussions displayed in this platform. We're going to have a fantastic class!! Teresa
